This page is for those of you who are wondering
"How in the Devil am I going to keep all those crickets?"
Well here is what we do. You may find other ways to modify
this, so do what ever works best for you. This will get you
a basic means of keeping those chirping little buggers from
running around your house.
Start with your basic rubbermaid
container. They come in different sizes, so pick the one
that best suits your needs.
Cut a hole in the top of the lid. I drilled a
hole big enough for my jigsaw blade and used that to cut the
square in the lid.
Cut a piece of metal screen about a inch bigger
than the hole.
Using a hot glue gun, glue the screen over the
hole. I glued it on the inside, just looks neater that way.
Order your crickets from your favorite supplier.
Put Cricket food and damp sponge in the bottom
of the container.
Put egg cartons or paper towel tubes in the container,
away from the food and damp sponge.
You will need a large garbage bag and something
to cut open the cricket box with.
Cut the top of the cricket box so that you can
open it, but don't open it yet.
Put the cricket box inside the garbage bag and
open it.
Dump the crickets and the egg cartons out into
the bag. (Shake the box well to get all the crickets out
of it, sometimes this take a couple of good wacks on the
box)
Shake all of the crickets off of the egg cartons and
remove the potatoes from the bag.
Close the top of the garbage bag and hold on bottom
corner of the bag.
Shake all of the crickets to one corner of the bag.
Put the top of the bag in the cricket container
and lift the bottom, sliding all of the crickets into the container.
